George Wright

On the subject of Hearing, then prophecy

Afternoon spent well traveling
Out for several hours
In the course of events unraveling
Expressions given high and dour

Many people, unguarded, wandering by
Reveal themselves so well
Others, by their mindful standing still
In more hurtful tales revel

In the course of this afternoon travcling
Marketing for the fall
Small children discourse rapidly
Older children will tell all

One child I heard complain to others
He won’t play with my collection
The thoughts being turned on other words
But not arranged to my direction

Still other thoughts reflected back to me
At a luncheon or a lesson
Chinese Chef, intuitive, patient, respectful
A fine example for the children

Volcano’s fire, and rice, not insulted
Before he worked, the gods consulted
Long weary day, his heart arranging
More than a meal, my respect engaging

Ah, but the trip would never be complete
Without a stop for something sweet
There I engaged a large man gnashing
Immediately our minds were clashing

With disrespect he gave no room
And carelessly predicted doom
For all those who had gathered in his path
Had fallen victim to his unspeakable wrath

Of course he never said a word
That would only the air disturb
What then you think was his surprise
When I predicted his demise

Not normally, I think, answered thus
He searched frantically for more blunderbuss
But hearing laughter from inside
Chose first to try and further deride

But had I lost the lesson from the Chef
Who treated food with more respect
Then I was fair and not to test?
Thieving patience and love is not for the best

Trying then a different tact
I adopted a different set of facts
Professing only love for all
(Close enough to hear my call)

Reconciliation has its many faces
Accomplished usually in many phases
More difficult when you at first forget
Respect, love, - intuition, the chef’s regret

The injured party kept retreating
Our first perhaps our only meeting
I took then what was given twice
I could not even make it rice

The prophecy is given here
Never respond to fear with fear
For you’ll gain nothing in the end
As more injury around the world you send
